Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.....2!!!!!!!!!
Super 78 had me do this as kind of a send off fun thing to do before I left for my new job out in Maryland. It beat having to do actual work... ;)
Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!
A "spare time" animation done for Super 78. Getting paid for "spare time" animation kicks butt! Wait, doesn't that make it not a "spare time" animation?
Oh, you mean this gatekey.
Thought I would experiment a little with somewhat "subtle" (IMO) squash and stretch during an acting segment.
What do they think I am, dumb or something?!
My second 10 second club animation.
Cause we only want to hear tha truth.
My first 10 second club animation. Grabbed the generi rig and sound clip of the month and this is what I came up with.
Freaking maya and gimbal
Just screwing around with Maya. Thought it would be funny to bring a 3d Studio Max biped into Maya and animate it, Parkour style. I was inspired to do this animation after watching Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior.
But this place...is so sad and depressing.
After doing a bunch of happy fun stuff, thought I would try something a little more somber. This is me going for the animation academy award.
Bipeds try to pick up the letter "M" but it is very heavy....or is it very light?
An animation exercise to show different weight and personalities using the same models.
I gonna see what time it is on the ole grandfather clock!!
Animated to an old Red Skelton radio clip...I know, I know...it's hard to understand what he says in the clip, but it was taking me forever to find an audio clip I liked, so I just picked one.
or the high quality MPG ~ 4.7Megs
Can you tell its a CG car? Look carefully there's more than meets the eye.
A camera tracking exercise that we filmed in Rainbow's back parking lot. It was a test for a short movie I was going to do. That's me walking in the background :)
There's a new webpage devoted to just the VW video, just click here or on the VWVideo button above to access the page.
My first ever four-legged walk cycle!
An animation test for Realm Interactive. Had one day to rig and animate this model...this is what I turned in. Rock On!
Ooooh, scary dragonfly.
Had this model and decided to learn Max 3's bone system. Also learned illusions to put some 2d particles in this video.
Teddy Chan Vs Bear Li. I give you ......boot to the head.
My hand-drawn 2d animation. Lots of drawing for a blip of animation.
I did the rigging and animation for these American Greetings card company shorts. Other people did the models, lighting and rendering.
Goosers goes galactic in this scorching short.
When playing frisbee, beware low flying ufos. Animated in 6 days.
You can also see and comment on it at YouTube here.
Dander's antics really take off in this short.
You wouldn't think it, but animating that rope alone took almost as long as animating everything else in the scene. Animated in 8 days.
You can also see and comment on it at YouTube here.
Yawp's up, up and away in this twisted short.
I like how the air from the balloon actually blows more air into the dog than was in the balloon. Gotta love cartoon physics. Animated in 8 days.
You can also see and comment on it at YouTube here.
Dander taps into a bit 'o luck in this short.
This one actually went through quite a few revisions (plus dancing is always a pain to animate) so it took a little longer to complete. I'll have to post the original version sometime. Animated in 11 days.
You can also see and comment on it at YouTube here.
Ah, thank goodness for YouTube and a rabid Lara Croft fanbase. I didn't save any of the work I did for that game, but I found these videos of the cinematics I did for the game on TombRaiderChronicles.com. You'll have to excuse the crappy compression quality and some are so dark that it's hard to see, but it's beats having nothing to show from that game.
Scenes for the cinematics in the game were done in two stages: An Initial phase (animated to the point where it "could" be released) and then a Polish phase. Sometimes your scene would be given to another animator for polish (so you could potentially see the same Tomb Raider scene on a lot of demo reels).
Scenes where all animation was done by me (Now in the interest of full disclosure, I was no longer at Crystal Dynamics when the game was released so I can't guarantee that another animator didn't tweak stuff in my scenes after I left.)
Scenes where I did the initial animation phase (someone else did some polish to this)
I only animated the snake parts of these deaths, someone else did the forklift fall sequence. These were my favorite animations I did for this game.
Scenes where someone else did the initial animation phase and I did the polish phase (I did some polish to other scenes too, but not enough that I would feel right including them here)
Bonus video: Tomb Raider deaths Maybe I'm sick, but after working on Lara for six months, watching her die over and over in this video makes me happy.
Pay attention to the giant eel/snake deaths, that was my contribution to this montage. All the others were animated by other people.
Break on through to the other side!
A project I did for FX channel to introduce their new lineup of fall shows. I modeled, textured, lit, rigged and animated for this sequence. 2D effects (such as the videos, greens tint filters, etc) were done by the artists at autonomy. I also believe another artist setup a couple other camera shots for the final piece and did some minor texture tweaking. You can watch the unedited FX Break on Through quicktime on the Autonomy website here ~18.0 Megs.
I did the following animations for Crystal Dynamics' Whiplash video game. Someone else did the models, textures and rigging
Hamster tries the direct escape of breaking through the glass of the cage.
This animation plays during the opening cinematic of the game. So don't hit the skip button or you won't get to see it.
Thanks to his friends at ACME, Hamster tries using a cannon to break through the glass of the cage.
This animation actually never made it into the game. So the only place you can see this is here.
Hamster's third escape attempt from the cage.
This animation plays during the ending cinematic of the game. They actually cut the pushups and just showed him pushing the cage.
eXarch
Some of my animation work for the video game eXarch which, I think, was cancelled by NCSoft.
I looked at my website and realized there's getting to be a lack of more "realistic" video game type animations. So here's some.
Wizmo's Workshop: The Dragons of Frozzbok I did the following animations for the video game Wizmo's Workshop. Models by John Cboins Textures by Howard Lyons
Check out the moves on this dancing turtle. Hmmm, those moves look familiar.
One of the prizes you can win in Wizmo's Workshop video game. Would inspire the Gigi and Brock dance number later.
Burping cactus.
Wizmo's Workshop looping 4 part game animation spliced into 1 long animation.
Flower that sings...what a voice.
Wizmo's Workshop looping animation spliced together.
Happiest toaster in the world...

Even a trophy fish gets hungry when it sits around all day.
Wizmo's Workshop animation.
If a trophy fish gets hungry...a frog head statue gets downright ravenous.
Wizmo's Workshop animation.
Some of the animations for the Cinematix's video game Revenant.
Ow! Is a leg supposed to bend that way? Oh and the arm, it looks broken to me.
Animation done for the Revenant video game.
Picks up our hero by the head and throws him.
This is the first animation I was ever paid for. This was for Revenant. I still like it(most of my stuff I hate soon after I finish).
Pinning the monsters arms down and beating him to a pulp. Thisis for picking me up by my head!
Revenant animation.
Getting hit in the groin...is that ever not funny.
